So today I decided to take in some culture and attend a book signing. I didnât know much about it, but apparently the author was a lady whose family was murdered (she claims) by a man who (allegedly) stalked her and broke into her home (according to her), and she survived the (supposed) attack.
Naturally, I was interested, being a fellow marginalised person at risk of lethal violence. But she narrow-mindedly only talked about her experience, and the experiences of other non-violent survivors of murder attempts!
I couldnât take it any more. I stood up and said, âI have a suggestion! You havenât even mentioned hitmen. We face murder attempts more often, we are threatened more often. I have been followed, you know!â
She said, âSo have I, the bookâs about a stalker who tried to kill me. Itâs the same, youâre a part of that too.â
Well, hearing her dismiss me by not centring me, Iâm afraid the familiar red mist descended, and
I found myself screaming âHitmen are in prisons! And what have you done for them?â
Before I could say anything else, I was frogmarched from the premises, in a clear violation of my human rights to talk over attempted murder victims about murders. They donât know the first thing about murders!
Anyway, Iâm sorry I got quite so emotional and expressed myself rather poorly. Iâm usually more of a âcold bloodâ sort of chap.
But Iâll get over it. Iâm doing a string of killings for a client this week, thatâll cheer me up.
